Placenta encapsulation involves the steaming and drying of the placenta which is then ground into a powdered form and poured into a vegetable capsule for consumption. Possible benefits of placenta encapsulation include but are not limited to: a decrease in postpartum mood disorders, increased production of oxytocin, a decrease in stress hormones, restoration of iron levels following bleeding after birth, and increased milk supply.
